BHUTAN TO HOST FIRST INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT “MEN’S ATT EVENT”


In a testimony to the fast-paced growth of Asian Tennis Tour (ATT), Bhutan is set to become the fourth country to host a tournament in the circuit of Asia.


India, Iran, Philippines and Thailand have already hosted a series of tournaments, both men and women, and Bhutan is scheduled to host its maiden ATT event from September 16 to 18.


None of the players from Bhutan is either on the ATP or WTA ranking charts - singles or doubles. For a country which has no player
ranked even on the junior circuit, ATT will help the players from the region find a footing in the highly challenging sport.


The performance on ATT is considered for the Asian rankings, it is a great opportunity for the Bhutanese players to get on the ranking
sheets.


It will be first ever international event that Bhutan will host. To give exposure to its players, Bhutan had hosted an India-Bhutan
Friendship Tennis Championship last year in May. Players from different cities of India such as Assam and Kolkata had competed in
the event.


Apart from this, more than 30 ATT tournaments are scheduled to be
